In 1927, the Council purchased its first (and only) motor fire engine. This was a 250 GPM
Morris Fire Engine, which cost £748, and it was housed in a new two-bay, purpose-built Fire Station, which was erected at a cost of £224, on what is now the open car park at the rear of the Town Hall.
